MANDY Movie Explained
The “Mandy” ending explained very little about what you just witnessed. As one of the weirdest movies of 2018, “Mandy” has proved to be very polarizing with some hailing it as a masterpiece and others labeling it as pretentious drivel.
On my first viewing I sort of felt it was potentially either of those things but I did enjoy it. On a second viewing, however, I found much more meaning and began to connect the dots that Panos Cosmatos laid out in this film, starting with the “Mandy” title sequence featuring “Starless” by King Crimson. The “Starless” lyrics hold the key that unlocks the initial thread needed to begin decoding this incredible movie.
Clues hidden in the lyrics tie into other elements which tie into others and so on. Ultimately, I think there's a lot more depth to “Mandy” than I realized on the first viewing which is always the sign of great filmmaking.
